To wash or not to wash, that is the question!!
I have just had an disagreement with a friend who says that you shouldn't bathe a dog TOO often as it ruins the oils in its coat, but I think you can bath your dog as often as you want so long as your rinse any soap/conditioner residue off throughly and make sure your dog is completely dry especially under the chest area, who would you say was correct?

Re: To wash or not to wash, that is the question!!
Hi there!
I'd heard about not washing too much as well, probably on the old DFB forum. I'm really not sure, to be honest, it's probably true of human hair too, we wash all the oils out, then put lots of jollop on to get it back in condition again
I just wash Molly when she needs it, so when the little oik has rolled in something foul. But, to be honest, she smells worst wet than dry, no matter what I do to her! Perhaps I should do her more often, I used to go into "doggy" houses and think how they smelt.... mine probably smells the same now

Hi Ladies ,i hope you are both well , and the doggies of course , well if i say Sammy will be 7 in January and Rags 2 in Nov and neither have ever had a bath other than once for Rags when he rolled big time in fox poo i just groom once a week and feed them oily fish for their coat now rather than give oil as i used to , but it keeps the skin and coat in great condition and the boys really do never smell so def no bathing in this house unless it is really really needed and they are still on Raw chicken , infact they have a lot more of it now and either tinned mackeral or fresh sprats one/twice a week too , their coats are really soft and glossy aswell .

Hi, we bathe ours whenver they need it - sometimes more than others depending on the 'pong' level We also feed oily fish daily which keeps their coats lovely.

We just bath ours when needed...like yesterday, we,ve just been away for a week in Wales and they were in the sea every day so I bathed them to get rid of the sand and salt..we also only use baby shampoo

You should see the strange looks when we buy 30 + tins of sardines I feel obliges to explain that they're for the dog - never sure if that makes it better
Had to giggle the other day when hubby had made written the shopping list - he'd put down 'dog carrots' and 'human carrots' - looked everywhere in Tesco, couldn't find em
Hope everyone's well. Happy BST
